Fostering Independence, Confidence, and a Love for Learning

At PLM, our Toddler Program provides a nurturing, calm, and thoughtfully prepared environment where toddlers can explore, move, and grow with purpose. This stage of development is filled with curiosity, big emotions, and the beginnings of independence—our program is designed to support all of that and more.

What Makes Our Toddler Program Special?

Early Montessori Foundations

Toddlers are natural explorers. In our classrooms, they are given the freedom to choose from a variety of Montessori materials that are developmentally appropriate, hands-on, and designed to promote:

  • Concentration and focus

  • Fine and gross motor development

  • Cognitive and language growth

Language & Communication

At this stage, language is blooming. Our educators gently support toddlers in developing vocabulary and expressing their needs through:

  • Songs and finger plays

  • Daily storytelling and read-alouds

  • Simple conversations and guided interactions

  • Early exposure to the French language through playful activities

Practical Life Skills

Everyday routines are rich with learning opportunities. Our toddlers are empowered to:

  • Dress themselves (zipping, buttoning, and putting on shoes)

  • Pour their own water or serve a snack

  • Tidy up after activities

  • These moments build independence, coordination, and confidence in their abilities.

Social & Emotional Growth

We help toddlers navigate the world of social relationships. With patient guidance, they learn:

  • How to express emotions appropriately

  • Sharing and taking turns

  • Helping others and contributing to the classroom community

Connection with Nature

Daily outdoor time is an essential part of our routine. Whether it's exploring leaves, feeling the textures of bark, or simply enjoying the fresh air, our toddlers develop an early appreciation for the natural world.

  • Daily outdoor play to encourage movement, curiosity, and exploration

  • Nature walks where children collect leaves, observe insects, and engage their senses

  • Sensory experiences like feeling tree bark, soil, water, and grass

  • Gardening activities to introduce the life cycle of plants and care for living things

  • Bug and critter observation to spark wonder and respect for small creatures

Creative & Sensory Exploration

Toddlers are encouraged to express themselves and discover the world using all their senses. Our program includes:

  • Art and open-ended creative activities

  • Music, movement, and rhythm

  • Sensory play using natural and safe materials

Program Highlights

  • Low child-to-educator ratio for individualized attention

  • Child-sized furniture and materials to promote autonomy

  • Predictable routines to provide a sense of security

  • Ongoing communication with families to support consistent growth

A Gentle Start to Lifelong Learning

Our Toddler Program is often a child’s first experience in a school-like setting. At PLM, we ensure that this first step is filled with warmth, encouragement, and joyful discovery.
